Description of Improvement

This upgrade is part of the Technical Improvement Program (TIP); it replaces the MWU Knife pull roll motor mounting system, it includes a timing belt drive train to replace the through-bore motor design for increased gearbox and pull roll bearing life.

The new motor bracket mounts the motor on the upstream side of the pull roll and a continuous contact belt drives the roll.

Benefits

  • System eliminates overhung weight on pull roll shaft
  • Rigid mount prevents speed oscillation
  • Decreases wear and tear on gearbox and bearings
